Nightlife photographer Peter Lau has emerged this past year to establish himself as one of New York’s premiere leather scene photographers and has in the process documented what we at M8NY believe was an amazing and pivotal year for the scene. He shares with us here his favorites (we asked for 15 and he gave us 35, but with so many good shots who could rightly narrow them down to so few). Lau’s affiliation with the city’s gay mags (he currently works for NEXT and earlier in the year shot for HX) has been instrumental, if not largely responsible, in many ways for the much welcome increase in exposure we have seen of parties and events related to New York’s levi-leather-fetish scene. In October he shot his first magazine cover (NEXT). His commissioned portraits of promoters and talent like Rich King and Gustavo helped garner them some unprecedented exposure, appearing in publications like Time Out, HX, Next, L Magazine etc. And recently he has made a number of happy clients with his new “Personal Porn” business.
